Model Makes the Shot

It's always a thrill to walk in a store and see one of your images hanging there. This particular one reminded me of how much a model can make a shot. Brynn is a very cute and enthusiastic model who always brings great energy with her. I call her a "point and shoot" model because that's basically all you have to do!

How's your Winter?

Whew! This has been a rough winter for many of us. So I try to live by the old adage, when given lemons make lemonade. We'll we got a lot of snow so I decided to make a Snow Bride with the help of a great Hair & make up artist Deborah Engelsman. Thanks to my daughter Sadie for providing a look on how we did it.

How's your Fall going?

I couldn't pass up shooting the fog that's on the lakes as the temperature drops in the fall. Now come's the video editing for a new pharma test spot coming soon.

How was your summer?

I hope your summer was great! We took our girls to Brazil for World Youth Day. What an experience! I was warned by many not to travel to Brazil with a lot of expensive gear because of wide spread theft. My solution was to take my back up body, a Canon 5D Mark II, and a 50mm lens. It was fairly compact and allowed me to shoot rather conspicuously. I was able to use photo merge for more wide angle stuff and the Mark II sensor gave me a large enough file to zoom in on other shots and I was able to shoot with Hi Def video. If I only brought my iPhone, I'd be kicking myself!

Salty

I had the great pleasure of recently working with Jarrod Saltalamacchia, catcher for the Boston Red Sox. He and his wife Ashley could not have been nicer and more hospitable.  West Palm Beach is very nice this time of year. Thanks for a great shoot!

Nancy Brown

I recently enjoyed seeing my dear old friend and mentor Nancy Brown while on a shoot in South Florida. Nancy brought me in as an intern, then hired me as an assistant when I first moved to NYC. She not only taught me everything about commercial photography from A-Z, she taught me how to treat people with respect and dignity. Nancy also taught me that making photos should be fun and not to take yourself too seriously. She has fallen in love with Asia in recent years and has visited there quite often. Her new book "Simply China" is beautiful! Check it out: http://simplychinabynancybrown.com
Thanks Nancy, for all that you've done for me.
